Maybe you’ve been working really hard on your video skills, and they’ve been paying off: you just had a Reel or TikTok go viral! So…. NOW WHAT?
Well, first of all, don’t panic. 😉
Second of all, just follow these best practices to make the most of your influx of engagement! 👉
- 🤝 Interact. Go to the post that’s going viral and interact with everybody who commented. And we mean EVERYBODY. This is all about beginning to build a connection with people. If they’ve commented on your video, then reply to that comment. Show these new peeps that you engage back with them!
- 🤔 Analyze. Step back and think about WHY your video performed so well. Was the pacing super quick? Was the lighting on point? Were you solving a problem for your audience? Consider all the reasons this video went viral, then try to incorporate those exact things in your videos going forward! This will give you the best chance at recreating that viral moment.
- 🏃♀️ Use the Momentum. Once you have a piece of content that goes viral, the algorithm wants to keep up on your momentum and pump out more of your content. So be on social media more than ever in the following 48 hours. Keep posting consistently and keep interacting with your followers. The algorithm will love you for it.
- 🌟 Keep Going. Don’t worry if your viral video doesn’t translate to a bunch of new followers right away. Of course it’s a great thing if people decide to follow you from a viral video, but if you’re not seeing a huge influx of new followers, it’s more than OK – that’s normal. You should think of viral videos less as a way to get a quick bump in followers and more as a validation that you’ve created a type of content that you should keep creating to lead to long-term growth.
Think of it this way — would you rather go to a restaurant where you’re obsessed with one dish, but the rest of the menu is just so-so, or a restaurant where you love absolutely everything on the menu?! So focus on creating more content just like the video that went viral, and next time someone new comes to your page, they’ll see you posting the same type of content and decide to follow for more!
Easy as pie, right!? So next time (or the first time!) one of your Reels or TikToks starts popping off…well, you’ll know what to do. 😎
